A name for every face at the table
When a player asks the name of the bartender you hadn't planned, this fantasy name generator has you covered. Choose a sound palette โ human, elf, dwarf, orc, hearthfolk or helltouched for people, or town and tavern for places โ pick a gender if it matters, and tap Generate for a fresh batch. Tap any result to copy it straight to your clipboard. Every name is assembled in your browser, so you can roll as many as you like.
Built for dark fantasy
The project-specific name pools lean toward a grim, medieval feel โ hard-edged orc and dwarf names, lilting elven ones, earthy hearthfolk and human names, and infernal helltouched names. These are fictional sound palettes, not claims about a real language. Town and tavern names combine separate fixed word banks into places like "Gallowsmere" or signs like "The Hanged Raven".
Turn a name into something playable
Read a batch aloud and keep the name whose rhythm fits the scene. Then add one concrete fact that the generator cannot know: who uses the name, who shortened it, or why the character refuses an old byname. For a place, connect one half of the compound to local history โ a town called Saltwatch may guard a coastal road, while a tavern called The Last Candle might close before sunset. That small decision gives the random prompt a reason to exist in your world.
The source names come from project-specific arrays and the batch removes duplicates before display. See how the random generators work for selection rules and limitations.
